Creating branding for a national voice festival /
Explore and celebrate the journey of songVoices of Birralee
The triennial Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival is presented by leading Australian choral organisation Voices of Birralee, a Brisbane nonprofit community organisation. Designed to encourage men of all ages and backgrounds to sing in a choir, Pemulwuy! provides a platform where the male voice can be celebrated and encouraged. The objective for the project was to create a culturally appropriate and recognisable brand.
Aboriginal rainbow warrior, Pemulwuy, was a member of the Bidjigal tribe. His name means ‘man of the earth’. Starting with this knowledge, a brand and style guide featuring bespoke fonts and graphics was created. The brand was executed across a number of platforms and mediums to promote the festival through a theme based around the ‘journey of song.’ At its heart, the branding aims to unite through place, connection and self-expression.
