Dispelling myths about periods /
Build a friendly visual narrative around yarning
Family Planning NSW
Objective
Every girl deserves to know what’s happening to their bodies as they grow up. Girl’s business is about exactly this—communicating the details around periods and puberty, and starting a conversation through encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls to yarn about it.
Narrative
The purpose of the artwork was to represent a positive experience of the journey to womanhood. Every girl goes through the same changes in becoming a woman. In Indigenous culture, this is girl’s business; the changes are unique experiences to each girl and are completely normal, positive moments to tell us that we are becoming women! Ultimately, the message we wanted to convey was that we are all on this journey together.
